Captivate how to download mode

Hold the Volume Down button while pressing the power button until the "Download Mode" picture displays. Then release the buttons. Remove and replace the battery. Connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable.

The "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture should display on the phone's screen. The screen should go blank, then the picture should appear again. If the phone does not allow you to go into Download mode after trying the aforementioned steps above you can try this method to "force" it into download mode: Be sure the Samsung USB drivers for the phone are installed on your computer.

With the Battery removed plug the USB into your phone. You should see the Download mode screen pop up. If you see the Powered Off Charging screen - attempt the above steps again. If NONE of the steps work after trying multiple times to attempt to get your phone into Download Mode: You can build a "Jig" from the directions found here.
